Lansing Real Green Lawn Care FAQ

Have a landscaping-related question? We have the answer. Check out these FAQs and give us a call today for more information!

  • How often should I hire a lawn mowing service provider?

There is no correct answer to your question. Whenever you feel that the grass on your lawn needs to be mowed, you can give us a call. We work closely with our clients, and it’s our main priority to meet their needs. We use only the finest lawn mowing equipment to make sure every project is provided adequately and efficiently.

  • Does it matter if the lawn mowing blades on my equipment are sharp?

It’s important for the blades on your lawnmower to be sharpened at least two times a year. A blade that’s sharp means a clean cut and a deep green color. Blades that are dull can easily cause the grass to tear, and a surface that’s more susceptible to diseases and fungus. We always keep our lawnmowers perfectly sharp. This way, we achieve only satisfactory results.

  • What is the perfect mowing height for my lawn?

It usually has to be around 3-3.5 inches. Grass that’s taller can be more resistant to the effects of drought and heat. It can also provide shade at ground level, thus hindering weed development. If you are still unsure if you can do the work yourself, contact us for a service.

  • When and how often should I water my lawn?

You should only water your lawn in periods of drought. If your lawn requires water, you will notice blades half-folded in an attempt to save water. At this point, after stepping on your lawn, your steps will remain visible. The best lawn watering time is early in the morning, as wet grass can burn in the hot afternoon.

  • What are overseeding and top dressing?

Overseeding and top dressing are completed by spreading half an inch of top dressing soil on your lawn, and grass seed spreading. This helps to make your grass thicker and prevents weed development. After the process is completed, it’s crucial to follow a watering schedule. This way, the seeds will stay moist and won’t dehydrate.

  • What does the word “thatch” mean?

It’s decomposed roots and stems that compile near the soil. It builds up when turf produces organic debris quicker and can be broken down. One of the important preventative maintenance practices is called core aeration. It improves air movement and alleviates compaction into the soil.
